Curating the Young is a dynamic collective who makes space for young people in the art world. We make this happen by giving the stage to young artists and organizing activities by and for young people. A lot of people want to challenge the classic art world and want their voice to be heard. In Curating The Young you get this opportunity.

Exciting, but also a bit scary? Don’t panic! The team of AmuseeVous will guide you along the way. We make room for learning experiences, formation and peer-to-peer learning. Think of it as a growth process you can design and shape yourself, a place where we create a safe environment for you to experiment and thrive.
More specifically:
Curating the Young is a yearly learning process for people from the age of 18 to 26 who want to take their first steps in the cultural field by gaining hands-on experience. No theory, but learning by doing.
Each year we give a young team the opportunity to experience cultural activities from behind the scenes. We organise a variety of events throughout the year, going from exhibitions to art walks or art fairs. Everything is possible. You can shape the process yourself. We start off with a clean sheet and plan the year together.
We offer learning opportunities on different kind of domains:
Artistic: selecting young talents and refreshing art, inventing innovative art events…
Public mediation: making the connection between art and the public, brainstorming about activities for the public…
Communications: designing on- and offline promo-activities, recruiting new artists and public…
Event management: location hunting, developing logistic and practical skills…
Sales: finding ways to support starting artists, looking for interesting collaborations…
The possibilities are endless
Curating The Young is there for everyone regardless of prior knowledge, gender identity, sexual orientation, (ethnic-cultural) background, religion, disability or health condition.
Who are you?
First and foremost: you want to bring a different voice into the art field
You are between 18 and 26 years old
You want to learn more about the cultural field and organizing art events
You want to collaborate with a diverse team of young people where everyone’s voice is valued and heard
You are willing to make a commitment for at least a year, starting from september
You can make time to meet up 4 to 6 times a month for a meeting, a training or an event. They will take place in different locations spread across Flanders or online. The meetings are always decided upon together and often take place in the evening on Tuesday or Thursday. In addition, you will also invest some time in doing some additional tasks. You are free on:
Saturday September 28th (from 12 PM): our kick-off of CTY 8.0. A moment where we get to know each other and the in’s and out’s of CTY. More information will follow later.
Saturday October 5th: a bootcampday full of lectures, given by inspirational people who will give you hands-on tips & tricks. More information will follow later.
